Description:
We are looking for an experienced Pre-Construction Manager to join an established specialist subcontractor, taking responsibility for construction programming, design coordination and the management of an in-house CAD department.
This is a senior, client-facing role combining pre-construction planning, programming, design coordination and team management.
Key Responsibilities
Produce detailed construction and delivery programmes using Asta
Develop and maintain programmes in line with client and project requirements
Manage an in-house department of four CAD Draughtsmen
Attend pre-construction, client and design meetings
Understand client requirements, drawings and project information
Act as the key link between clients and the CAD/design department
Translate information from client and design meetings into clear instructions for the CAD team
Manage drawing priorities, expectations and information flow
Understand and interpret design information without being responsible for producing the drawings personally
Work closely with Contracts Managers to ensure projects are properly planned ahead of delivery
Coordinate programme, design and project information between internal departments
Manage workloads and priorities across the CAD team
Attend client meetings and sites as requiredThe Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will ideally come from a Project Management, Pre-Construction or similar background within specialist subcontracting, with strong experience of construction programming and design coordination.
You should have:
Strong pre-construction and project planning experience
Proven experience producing construction programmes
Strong working knowledge of Asta
Experience working for a specialist subcontractor
Ideally a background within joinery, specialist interiors or fit-out
A strong understanding of drawings and the design process
Experience coordinating or managing CAD/design teams
Strong client-facing and communication skills
Experience managing people and departmental workloads
The ability to understand detailed project requirements and communicate them effectively across different teamsCandidates coming from joinery or detailed fit-out subcontractors would be particularly well suited. Main contractor experience alone is less desirable, as the role requires someone accustomed to the detailed level of coordination expected within specialist subcontracting.
The Role
The position will be primarily office based due to the responsibility for managing the CAD department, although the Pre-Construction Manager will regularly attend client, design and site meetings.
The role has become available following the departure of the previous Pre-Construction Manager, who had carried out the position for approximately five years, making this an urgent appointment
