Salary: £34,320 per annum (£16.50 per hour)
Location: Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 16:30

The Client

Interaction Technical are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing company operating within the injection moulding sector. Due to continued growth and investment in their tooling department, they are looking to recruit a Jig & Fixtures Toolroom Technician to support production, quality and engineering teams from their Whittlesey facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Toolroom Technician, Toolmaker, Machinist or Engineering Technician looking to join a stable and growing business where they can utilise their practical engineering skills and contribute to continuous improvement projects.

The Duties

Manufacture, repair, maintain and modify jigs, fixtures, gauges and production support tooling.
Produce tooling solutions from engineering drawings, sketches and specifications.
Operate manual toolroom machinery including mills, lathes, drills, grinders and saws.
Support production teams by resolving tooling and fixture issues quickly and effectively.
Carry out fitting, assembly, adjustment and bench work on tooling and fixtures.
Inspect completed work using verniers, micrometers, height gauges and other measuring equipment.
Assist with tooling trials, fixture validation and continuous improvement projects.
Work closely with Toolmakers, Maintenance Engineers, Production and Quality teams.
Maintain accurate tooling and maintenance records.
Ensure toolroom equipment and work areas remain clean, organised and compliant with health and safety standards.
Contribute to improvements that reduce downtime, improve product quality and increase production efficiency.

The Requirements

Previous experience working within a toolroom, engineering workshop, manufacturing environment or similar technical role.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand tooling, jigs and fixture applications.
Experience operating manual machining equipment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Good practical problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Basic computer literacy.

Desirable Experience

Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification.
Experience within injection moulding, plastics manufacturing, toolmaking or precision engineering.
Experience using measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers and height gauges.
Training relating to workshop safety, abrasive wheels, lifting equipment or manual handling.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on engineering professional who enjoys solving technical challenges and producing high-quality tooling solutions. You will be methodical, safety-conscious and capable of managing multiple priorities within a busy manufacturing environment. This role would suit candidates from Toolroom, Toolmaker, Machining, Maintenance, Precision Engineering, Injection Moulding or Manufacturing backgrounds.
