Role: Java Staff Software Engineer
Contract Length: 6 months with an extension review to follow
IR35 Status: Inside

Work Pattern: 2 days on site 3 days remote
Our Global consultancy client are looking for an accomplished Java Staff Software Engineer who will provide technical expertise and operate with excellence. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our empowered, self-managing, multi-disciplinary engineering team to design, build, release, and maintain products.
Working with the Product and Delivery teams you will deliver elegant and robust solutions to solve complex problems for our customers and colleagues. You will play a key role in driving our ambition to create a best-in-class software engineering team, environment, and culture. Key responsibilities:
* Build and maintain high-quality, reliable software and own it with a high degree of automation in the cloud
* Own complex tasks in the backlog and deliver them routinely with no significant issues.
* Develop/improve standard frameworks and policies, ensuring that they are understood and adopted
* Drive DevOps practices to automate the Product development life cycle
* Drive solution through experimentation and innovation as a culture
* Support the technical platform out of hours as a member of the support rota
* Contribute and create Product Group OKRs and demonstrate responsibility for the entire team’s teams' objectives
* Coach, mentor and develop by providing the knowledge and assets to less experienced engineers
* Assist with recruitment and new starter on-boarding activities
* Collaborate with the rest of the technology, product, and design team to deliver features that add value
* Work to define development standards and ensure they are upheld. Contribute to continual improvement of standards and development practices
* Support the team’s QA responsibility, through PR reviews and automated testing
* Deployment, manage roll back procedures and oversee deployment
Key skills/knowledge/experience:
* A minimum of 6 years experience coding in Java
* Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, or Struts is important. Particularly, knowledge of Spring Boot and Spring Cloud would be beneficial for developing microservices
* Experience with Elastic Search
* Proficiency in NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra can also be a major plus.
* Experience with GraphQL and RESTful APIs
* A Strong Understanding of JVM internals
* Familiarity with testing frameworks and libraries such as JUnit, Mockito, or TestNG is important for writing and maintaining test cases
* Experience with build tools such as Maven or Gradle is necessary for managing project dependencies and builds
* Proficiency in version control systems, such as Git, is essential for collaboration and version control
* Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, or TeamCity is beneficial for automating the build, test, and deployment process
* Understanding of Microservices Architecture
