The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT Support Technician to join a team of a well-established organisation based in York.

Working within a collaborative IT team, you'll enjoy a varied role supporting users across the business whilst gaining exposure to a broad range of technologies, systems and projects. This position offers genuine variety and would suit someone who enjoys problem solving, delivering excellent customer service and developing their technical skills.

If you're looking for a role where you can make a real impact rather than simply providing basic IT support, this could be an excellent next step.

The Role

As the IT Support Technician, you'll provide first and second line IT support across the business, ensuring users receive a professional, responsive and customer-focused service.

Alongside day-to-day support, you'll have the opportunity to become involved in infrastructure, hardware, procurement, testing and continuous improvement projects.

The role is primarily based at the York Head Office, with occasional travel to the organisation's Slough and Livingston sites to help ensure systems remain up to date and operating effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Capture, manage and resolve IT support tickets.

Provide first and second line support to internal users.

Deliver support via telephone, remote desktop and face-to-face.

Troubleshoot hardware, software and network issues.

Install, configure and maintain desktops, laptops and peripheral devices.

Carry out hardware maintenance, upgrades and fault diagnosis.

Assist with maintaining IT infrastructure and network equipment.

Manage user accounts across multiple business systems.

Research, source and order IT hardware and equipment.

Coordinate the delivery and collection of IT equipment and supplies across departments.

Support QA testing of new systems and software releases.

Assist with ongoing IT improvement and digital projects.

Maintain accurate documentation and asset records.

About You

We're looking for someone with a genuine passion for technology who enjoys helping people and wants to continue building a career within IT.

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience within an IT Support or Service Desk environment.

Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems.

Experience supporting Mac OS devices.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.

Able to research technical issues independently and recommend solutions.

Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

Knowledge of Unix/Linux.

Experience working with ticket management systems.

Experience supporting users within a commercial environment.

What's on Offer?

Salary of £27,500 per annum.

Company pension.

Private healthcare following successful probation.

Ongoing training and professional development.

Exposure to a broad range of technologies and business systems.

A varied role with opportunities to broaden your technical experience.

Supportive and collaborative working environment where you'll be encouraged to get involved in projects and make a real contribution.

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their IT career who is looking to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of technologies while working within a supportive team.

The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to develop both their technical capability and customer-facing skills, whilst contributing to a business that values initiative, teamwork and continuous improvement
