Apple Recruitment are recruiting for an IT Support Officer on behalf of the NI Ambulance Service.

Job Purpose:

The post holder will be responsible for the support and delivery of an extensive range of Information Technology (IT) Systems within NIAS. As a member of the IT Team, he/she will provide support and assistance for the implementation, operation and improvement of the Trust’s IT Systems and Services.

The Post Holder will be a member of a team that is responsible, through the Trusts ICT Manager, for the, managing and resolving incidents as they arise on the Trusts ICT Infrastructure, ICT Systems, remote access solutions and telephone systems.

Job Description:

1. In conjunction with the IT Manager and Assistant Director ICT, develop and implement the Trust's IT strategy and related policies in conjunction, to ensure the delivery of effective and efficient IT and Radio/Telephony Services to allow the Trust to achieve its objectives.”

2. Provide end user support and undertake complex fault diagnosis and resolution for the full range of IT Systems within NIAS ensuring that assigned faults are managed in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

1. Undertake routine maintenance and fault analysis, diagnosis and resolution for the full range of IT and Telephony Services in use within NIAS

2. Provide Primary Frontline support for all of the Hardware and Software used by both of the Trust’s Control Rooms and all associated services;

3. Maintain and develop Active Directory and Email accounts across NIAS as directed by ICT Manager.

4. Maintain and develop the AVAYA VOIP telephone System and all associated hardware as directed by ICT Manager.

5. Support and maintain the Trust’s Smartphone and Tablet systems, ensuring that individual devices such as iPhones and iPads are properly configured and issued to staff and giving appropriate handover training for these. Maintain and develop the backend Airwatch portals/servers as directed by ICT Manager.

6. Assist with the Installation, configuration and Management of the various Network Hardware and switches in use by NIAS.

7. Assist with the Installation, configuration and Management of the Trust’s network firewalls and the Trust’s Email and Internet Traffic Management systems.

8. Respond appropriately to any Cybersecurity threats in or out-of-hours, and deploy appropriate ICT Cyber measures as directed by ICT Manager or Senior IT on-call.

9. Maintain and develop the Trust’s Remote Access Solution, including the Citrix Web Portal, the Xenapp Farm Servers and the licensing, provisioning, configuration and issuing of SafeNet keyfobs as directed by the ICT Manager.

Provide frontline technical end user support for all NIAS IT Systems via the use and maintenance of the Help Desk Call Management System; interpreting and investigating fault calls and diagnosing and resolving any underlying issues with Hardware or Software using own expertise, liaising with third parties if necessary in order to achieve a satisfactory and timely resolution.”

2. Maintain an accurate inventory in the Help Desk Management System of computer hardware and software used within the Trust, ensuring that any changes are recorded in the System and the maintenance of files on equipment loaned to provide support to users.

3. Provide maintenance and support of third party IT hardware and software within NIAS. Manage and liaise with third parties in order to provide timely delivery of new services and equipment and prompt resolution of faults.”

4. Undertake regular site visits for the deployment, reconfiguration, maintenance and emergency repair of IT and Telephony equipment, along with the assessment of requirements for planned/proposed IT developments as directed by ICT Manager.

5. Assist in the installation, testing, repair and maintenance of all new and existing hardware and software applications in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

6. Attend and actively participate in team meetings and work with the IT Manager in order to improve and/or consistently maintain IT Systems and Services.

7. Propose and implement changes to IT policies and procedures within own work area, in order to improve organisational practice.

8. To procure ICT consumables via eProc system and monitor and maintain stock control and supplies for IT Department .

9. Participate in projects as directed by the IT Manager.

10. Participate in an out-of-hours IT on call rota as required by the Trust.

11. Attend and actively participate in external or Inter-trust meetings as directed by the IT Manager.”

12. Participate in the mentoring and training of more junior staff members, including temporary staff and work experience students.

Essential Criteria:

Applicants must, by the closing date for applications, have:

1. University Degree or a recognised equivalent professional qualification in an Information Communication and Technology (ICT) discipline and a minimum of 1 years’ experience in the installation and support of the full range of network based computer equipment, such as personal computers, printers and data switches

OR

HND or recognised equivalent professional qualification in an Information Communication Technology (ICT) discipline and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the installation and support of the full range of network based computer equipment, such as personal computers, printers and data switches

OR

A minimum of 4 years’ experience in the installation and support of the full range of network based computer equipment, such as personal computers, printers and data switches.

2. Working knowledge and experience of Microsoft desktop application software and Windows operating systems.

3. Practical experience of administrating and supporting an IT Network, including the troubleshooting and configuration of devices such as Hubs, Switches and Routers

4. Hold a current full driving licence and/or * have access to a form of transport which will permit the applicant to meet the post requirements in full.

5. Working knowledge and experience of Help Desk Management Systems.

6. Working knowledge and experience of Intranet/Internet Portal Systems and Technologies.

7. Applicants will be required to participate in the IT on call rota.

8. Must have good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with users at all levels.

9. Must be capable of clearly interpreting complex technical data and providing detailed advice to both users and commercial suppliers of IT Systems.

10. Must be capable of working alone and as part of a team.

11. Must be capable of planning and prioritising workload effectively.
