The School
A secondary school in Gloucester that caters for pupils from the centre of Gloucester and the surrounding villages. The school has a high percentage of pupils with SEND, some of which have an EHCP (Education Health and Care Plan).
The Role
This is a full-time role, starting in September. You will be running interventions to support pupils with SEND. Interventions will usually take place outside of the classroom, although some work may involve supporting pupils during lessons. The focus for interventions will vary depending on the needs of the pupils involved. You will follow the plans/schemes of work provided by the class teacher/SENDCo. You will be working primarily with pupils from year 7 to 9, although some interventions will take place with year 10 and 11 pupils.
Main Responsibilities
Follow plans/schemes of work to deliver a series of interventions
Document pupil progress
Adapt interventions according to pupil progress
Provide written and verbal feedback for pupils/teachers/SENDCo
Manage challenging behaviour in a calm and patient manner
Ensure pupil safety and welfare maintained at all times
Essential Criteria
Previous experience working in an educational setting
Ability to work independently leading small groups of pupils
Ability to use own initiative, be flexible and adapt planning according to pupils needs
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND
HLTA or other qualification
