Internal Communications Specialist

Location: Belfast (Onsite)
Rate: £34.98 per hour - Umbrella Inside IR35
Hours: 36 hours per week (4.5-day week, working between 7am and 7pm, subject to business requirements)

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Internal Communications Specialist to play a key role in supporting a major business transition and acquisition programme in Belfast.

The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, communications colleagues and senior leadership to establish and deliver effective communication strategies during a period of significant organisational change. This role will be instrumental in creating communications frameworks, launching new channels, and ensuring colleagues remain informed, engaged and supported throughout the transition.

This position would suit a proactive and adaptable communications professional with extensive experience in change communications, organisational transformation and M&A environments, who can quickly integrate into a programme and deliver immediate impact.

Key Responsibilities

Driving Change Communications

Lead the development and delivery of communication plans supporting the acquisition and transition programme.
Create clear, engaging and consistent messaging for employees and stakeholders throughout the change journey.
Support the definition and execution of strategic communications initiatives aligned to business objectives.

Establishing New Communications Channels

Play a key role in setting up communications frameworks, tools and channels for the newly established business.
Develop both interim and long-term communication solutions to support employee onboarding and engagement.
Build scalable communication processes that support the future growth of the organisation.

Stakeholder Engagement

Partner with project teams, leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure communication requirements are effectively managed.
Collaborate with wider communications, public affairs and engagement teams to maintain consistency of messaging.
Build strong relationships across multiple functions and levels of the organisation.

Content Creation & Delivery

Produce high-quality communication materials across a range of channels.
Develop leadership communications, employee engagement content and transition-focused messaging.
Support the planning and delivery of events and engagement activities.

Essential Experience & Skills

Minimum of 5 years' communications experience.
Proven experience in internal communications, change communications and organisational transformation programmes.
Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions or large-scale business transitions.
Demonstrated ability to build communication plans and deliver successful communication strategies.
Strong content creation and exceptional written communication skills.
Ability to quickly establish credibility and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Experience launching or developing new internal communication channels and platforms.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to delivery and implementation.

Desirable Experience

Understanding of Northern Ireland's business and operating environment.
Experience working across internal communications, external communications, media relations and community engagement.
Event management experience.
Knowledge of employee engagement best practice and internal communication channels.
