Description:

We are working with an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an interim Senior Employee Relations Advisor. This is an interim assignment for 6 months initially and will pay between £175 - £225 per day.

Key responsibilities will include:

Provide an expert corporate employee relations advisory service to managers, modelled extensively around e-access and e-tools, that ensures the organisation becomes and remains an employer and provider of choice;
Ensure that “every conversation is a coaching conversation” when advising managers on employee relations issues.
Provide timely and effective interpretation of developing employment law and local and national NHS HR policy and procedures;
Minimise the risk to the organisation of an increased employee relations workload;
Act as the focal point for managers on all employee relations matters. Providing detailed advice and guidance to managers on the interpretation of organisation policies and procedures and employment legislation;
Work autonomously, manage a mixed case load of Disciplinary, Performance, Grievance and complex sickness absence cases, plus any other relevant employee relations case work as determined by the Employment Relations Manager and/or Deputy Head of Employee Relations;
Review cases that are logged for the Just Culture Panel and assess and advise if the cases should be managed informally or go forward for review by the panel;
Support the Employee Relations helpline rota and take calls and e-mails to advise line managers on a range of employee relations queries;
Extensively review formal outcome letters and management cases/investigation reports;
Advise on Medical cases in line with the disciplinary and capability procedures and in line with specific medical guidance. To support the case manager at formal meetings and hearings;
Support line managers with the fixed-term contract process and ensuring fixed term contracts are ended fairly and robustly. Where appropriate support managers at the formal meeting and review outcome letters.

The ideal candidate will have:

Graduate calibre or person with significant relevant experience;
CIPD or equivalent;
Evidence of continued learning/development;
Developed written and oral communication skills for a variety of formal and informal purposes.
Analytical skills to be able to assess and understand employee relations issues in order that they are resolved in a pragmatic and timely manner;
Experience in providing employee relations advice and support to managers in a large complex organisation with union recognition.
