Description:
Axon Moore are supporting a well-established professional services business in the appointment of an Interim Finance Manager.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function during a period of transition. Working closely with the Finance Director, the Interim Finance Manager will take ownership of critical finance processes, support the handover from departing team members and ensure a structured transfer of knowledge to incoming permanent hires.
The key roles and responsibilities for this person will include:
Taking control of the day-to-day finance function and ensuring critical processes and deadlines are maintained throughout the transition
Working alongside outgoing team members to capture knowledge of key finance processes, responsibilities and deadlines
Managing the handover of management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT, audit, banking, payroll and cash flow
Documenting key finance processes, controls, reporting requirements and recurring tasks to support a smooth transition
Taking ownership of complex billing issues, investigating discrepancies and resolving system and data issues
Producing monthly reporting and supporting the month-end close, including journals, reconciliations and general accounting
The ideal candidate requirements for this role will include the following:
Qualified accountant, ideally ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or qualified by equivalent experience
Previous experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or a strong Senior Management Accountant
Proven experience of managing or supervising a finance team
Strong technical finance experience, including month-end, management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
Excellent Excel skills and experience working with finance systems
Strong communication skills, with the ability to train and support colleagues through a period of change
This is a six-month interim assignment, with an immediate requirement for someone who can start within the next 1–2 weeks.
