Interim Data Engineer

Description:

Interim Data Engineer to start ASAP until end of March 2027 outside of IR35 for a Public Sector client. You will have to have had extensive Data Engineer experience obtained in the Public Sector to apply.

Based in London, Hybrid working 2-3 days onsite.
£400-£425 a day outside of IR35
As the Data Engineer, your responsibility is to work under the direction of the Data Architect on technical architecture and data integration, while taking responsibility for agreed areas of engineering delivery and platform maintenance. You will work according to an Agile delivery model, with tasks collectively prioritised and assigned through a shared backlog. The backlog will be managed and prioritised by the Product Manager, with input from the wider team and relevant stakeholders.

The Data Engineer will:
✅ Build and maintain data pipelines and integrations within the agreed architecture.
✅ Support the ingestion, transformation, cleaning and linking of datasets identified through the data collection workstream.
✅ Support the development and maintenance of APIs and other data integrations.
✅ Support the management and maintenance of the data platform and associated services.
✅ Support Power BI data connections, datasets and refresh processes.
✅ Implement appropriate security, access controls and technical processes.
✅ Identify and resolve technical and data-quality issues.
✅ Provide practical technical input to the Data Architect and wider team.
✅ Contribute to testing, documentation and continuous improvement of the data platform.

Essential Experience
✅ Building or supporting data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
✅ Working with relational databases and SQL.
✅ Working with data from multiple sources and formats.
✅ Working with cloud-based data platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure.
✅ Python: core data science libraries such as numPy, pandas/polar
