Sue Ross Recruitment are delighted to be working with a well-established international organisation in the Sheffield area who are seeking an experienced Interim Category Specialist to join their Procurement team for a period of approximately 12 months.
This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with strong contract management, negotiation and supplier relationship skills to support a busy organisation through a period of change and development.
Reporting to the Procurement Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing a range of procurement categories, supporting contract lifecycle management and ensuring the business receives maximum value from its supplier relationships.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Reviewing expiring contracts and leading tender, RFQ, benchmarking, extension and negotiation activities.
* Working closely with internal stakeholders to develop procurement strategies and support contract award decisions.
* Drafting, reviewing and amending contracts in conjunction with legal teams.
* Managing supplier relationships and conducting regular performance review meetings.
* Monitoring contract compliance and ensuring contractual obligations are met by all parties.
* Identifying opportunities for cost savings, added value and process improvements.
* Producing procurement reports and analysing spend, demand and usage data.
* Supporting the implementation and management of new suppliers and services.
* Working collaboratively with both UK and international procurement colleagues to support wider procurement initiatives.
* Ensuring robust procurement governance and adherence to internal policies and procedures.
About You
The successful candidate will possess:
* Previous procurement, purchasing or category management experience.
* Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
* Experience of tender processes, contract drafting and contract management.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
* Strong analytical and reporting skills.
* A methodical approach with exceptional attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
* The ability to prioritise a varied workload and meet tight deadlines.
* A proactive, self-motivated and team-oriented approach.
