The Building Safety Act has fundamentally changed how social landlords manage higher-risk buildings. Compliance is no longer about ticking boxes, it's about demonstrating robust governance, managing risk, and ensuring residents remain at the centre of every decision.

In partnership with a London-based council, we are looking for an experienced Interim Building Safety Manager to help strengthen their building safety function during a critical period of delivery.

There are solid foundations already in place, but they need someone who can provide technical leadership, challenge existing processes where necessary, and ensure compliance programmes continue to move forward. This is a hands-on role where you'll be expected to make decisions, build relationships, and provide confidence to senior leadership that building safety obligations are being met.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll take ownership of the organisation's Building Safety programme across a portfolio of Higher-Risk Residential Buildings (HRRBs).
That means overseeing compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, reviewing building safety cases, supporting the management of the Golden Thread, and ensuring statutory obligations are being delivered effectively.
You'll spend time working with Compliance, Asset Management, Fire Safety, Repairs, and Capital Projects teams, as well as external consultants and contractors, making sure information is accurate, risks are properly managed, and remediation programmes continue to progress.
There will also be regular engagement with senior stakeholders, assuring clear reporting, practical advice, and recommendations that support informed decision-making.
This isn't a role where you'll simply oversee compliance dashboards—you'll be expected to get involved, challenge where necessary, and help drive improvements.
About You

You'll already have experience leading Building Safety or Compliance programmes within social housing, local government, or a similarly regulated property environment.
You'll understand the practical application of the Building Safety Act 2022 and be confident managing Higher-Risk Residential Buildings, Building Safety Cases, the Golden Thread, and wider compliance obligations.
Just as importantly, you'll be someone who can communicate complex technical issues clearly to colleagues, senior leaders, and external stakeholders.
Interested?

If you've been leading Building Safety programmes and are looking for your next interim assignment, I'd be happy to arrange a confidential conversation.

And if this particular opportunity isn't quite the right fit, it's still worth getting in touch.
