The NFU Mutual Mid & West Antrim agency offers an exciting opportunity for an aspiring sales professional. If you excel at building relationships, spotting new business opportunities and taking ownership of results, this could be your first step into self-employed business leadership as a partner of a thriving Farming & Commercial Insurance agency based in Ballymena.

You’ll be joining an established agency of NFU Mutual alongside experienced business partners and dedicated team of staff. You'll inherit a loyal client base to manage, working hard to maintain the agency’s impressive 95% renewal average. You’ll also play a key role in developing new business opportunities across the agency’s core rural and farming communities; and beyond into a diverse mix of commercial sectors from manufacturing to motor trade.

With the right growth mindset and support from your agency partners and staff, and wider network of NFU Mutual employees, you’ll soon build the skills, knowledge and credibility to confidently lead and shape the future of a £multi-million insurance business.

About You

We’re as interested in your potential as we are in your experience.

* A background in a client-facing role within farming, agriculture, insurance or financial services would be useful, though not essential.

* Previous management or leadership experience would also be welcome, rather than expected. What matters most is your ambition, willingness to learn and potential to grow into business leadership.

You will bring:

* Relationship-building and influencing skills to earn trust, understand clients’ needs and work confidently with a range of stakeholders

* A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively with others and achieve results through a shared effort

* Planning and organisation skills to manage competing priorities, follow through on commitments and deliver on time

* Commercial awareness, with the confidence to understand business performance, identify opportunities and make sound decisions

* A genuine interest in farming, agriculture or rural communities, given the agency’s core farming heritage.

You will need to be based within commuting distance of the Ballymena office and hold a valid UK driving licence, as regular travel is required to visit clients and attend meetings and events.

UFU Assistant Group Manager

Alongside your main role as a self-employed Agent of NFU Mutual, you’ll also hold a separate employed position with the Ulster Farmers’ Union as an Assistant Group Manager. This will place you at the heart of the local farming community, helping to arrange meetings and events, recruit and retain members, and keep them informed about agricultural policy. You’ll have the full backing of the UFU, including access to expert advice and specialist support.
