Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Instrument Technician to perform routine maintenance and defect repairs, ensuring the reliability and availability of plant and equipment involved in gas production and processing. This role demands technical expertise, safety awareness, and effective collaboration across teams to support operational excellence.

Purpose of the Role

To carry out routine maintenance and defect repairs to maintain the reliability and availability of plant and equipment within gas production and processing facilities.
Key Responsibilities

Perform routine and non-routine maintenance on plant and equipment in line with established procedures, safeguarding assets, the environment, and the wellbeing of all personnel.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues on critical plant, identify effective solutions, and restore normal operations promptly.
Prepare and present accurate technical reports, maintaining detailed records within recognised systems for analysis and audit purposes.
Support commissioning and decommissioning activities to meet planned plant operation schedules efficiently.
Contribute to the design and commissioning of plant modifications, proposing enhancements to optimise plant and equipment availability.
Collaborate effectively with vendors, engineering support teams, and external auditors as required.
Supervise colleagues and contractors during work activities, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies.
Adhere strictly to safe working practises and procedures, ensuring all necessary permits are obtained to protect people, plant, and the environment.
Perform core Instrument Technician duties on systems including Fiscal Metering, Distributed Control, Emergency Shutdown, and Fire & Gas systems.
Competencies and Qualifications

Essential Competencies:

Proven experience in petrochemical process operations or maintenance.
Strong understanding of engineering principles.
Qualified Instrument Technician.
Comprehensive knowledge of procedures and process systems to uphold health, safety, and environmental standards within hazardous environments.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage clearly and respectfully with diverse teams.
Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining role competencies.
Education:

BTEC Higher National Certificate or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
Work Experience:

Experience with general instrumentation, including metering and fire & gas systems, gained through production or maintenance roles within the oil, gas, or petrochemical sectors.
Strong communication and organisational skills, including proficiency in Windows operating systems and maintenance management software.
Onshore and offshore maintenance experience is highly advantageous.
