Our client are a large events space in the Docklands area of London, who seek a mechanical-bias supervisor to join their team delivering planned and reactive maintenance to mechanical and general HVAC / Building Services systems. This is a rare opportunity to work "in-house", as the organisation employ their staff direct as opposed to outsourcing to a 3rd party FM service provider as is the common model within the London commercial environment. Working on a Monday to Friday basis, the guideline salary is circa £54-56,000 along with an attractive benefits package including healthcare, pension scheme, overtime, etc.

The Mechanical Supervisor will form an integral part of the multi-disciplinary Building Services team who provide the expertise and accountability for the maintenance and operation of building services systems across the site. These include (but are not limited to) HVAC, Gas, Pressure Systems, Plumbing & Drainage Systems, Sprinkler Systems, Water Hygiene (including sampling and dosing) and all associated Mechanical Equipment and systems, including pumps, pipework, etc. Working alongside the Electrical and Fabric supervisors they will be directly responsible for a team of 4 x engineers, and provide a supporting role to all engineering disciplines as appropriate.

Key Duties of this role as follows:

Responsible for carrying out or supervising maintenance, reactive repairs, remedial works, small projects and installations involving plumbing, heating and mechanical systems by in-house or sub-contracted mechanical teams.
Direct supervision of 4 x Mechanical Engineers.
Direct control of all Mechanical Discipline sub-contractors.
Ensure all work carried out in-house or by sub-contractors is completed to a satisfactory standard and within a timely manner.
Ensure all industry standard, department and company specific procedures and processes are followed including access and permits.
Ensure compliance with all Risk assessments and Method statements.
Check all certification is carried out & documented to current Gas Safe regulations.
Manage and ensure all Statutory Maintenance tasks are carried out in a timely and professional manner.
Manage and ensure all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks are carried out in a timely and professional manner.
Ensure all works are recorded and maintained via the CAFM system.
Ensure all required documentation, job sheets and certificates are completed.
Assist in the production of regular departmental reports.
Carry out routine risk analysis to all mechanical systems (as defined above) and communicate issues and concerns.
Liaise regularly with the Building Services Manager and Head of Building Services ensuring that they are aware of all work being carried out.
Provide dynamic interaction between the Building Services Team and other Operational Managers across the business.
Liaise across departments to arrange for maintenance/mechanical works to be carried out in venue areas.
Candidates must be fully qualified in mechanical engineering, ideally through a full recognised apprenticeship, and with at least five years of experience in a supervisory or team leadership position. Preferably this will have been spent within a similar corporate/commercial environment. An experience working around commercial gas systems will also be of benefit and particular Mechanical and building services experience should include the following:

Strong experience and knowledge of building maintenance and mechanical installations in a similar role, especially HVAC, Gas & Pressure Systems.
Competent in the maintenance of HVAC systems (AHUS, FCUS, Fire Dampers, etc.) and experienced in (for example but not limited to) bearing changes, mechanical seals, belts and pulleys, small bore pipework maintenance, etc.
Experience of working within the commercial gas industry, and holding or having held the following qualifications CoDNCO1, TPCP, ICPN1, CDGA1.
Experience of commercial catering gas safety and knowledge of CCCN1.
Experience of, and confident with, the operation and maintenance of Building Management Systems (experience specifically with Trend systems would be advantageous).
Experience of Safe Systems of Work Procedures - PTW, RAMS, etc.
Experience of working on various manufacturers systems, carrying out PPM's in line with SFG20 or equivalent, with advanced fault finding diagnostic experience. A rare opportunity for an existing Mechanical-bias Supervisor to join a well established development which can offer a variety of events throughout the year. Combining two positives of working both "in-house" as well as being based in the East London / Docklands area, it will suit a technically minded individual looking to perhaps move away from FM/Service Provider side and a chance not to be missed
