About the role

The Infant Feeding Coordinator for Family Hubs, will be responsible for coordinating the Infant feeding strand of the Family Hub, Start for life programme. The post-holder will be part of the Public Health team and will also work closely with the Early Help, Prevention and SEND Division and other Council service areas and partner agencies.

The post holder will work in partnership with the Nutrition and Infant Feeding Borough Lead (Whittington NHS Trust) to co-ordinate and support the implementation of the NHS Baby Friendly Initiative Standards in family hubs to enable staff to support pregnant women to recognise the importance of breast feeding and early relationship for the health and wellbeing of their baby.

The post holder will support all mothers/ fathers and their babies to initiate a close relationship and feeding throughout the perinatal period/ or as long as women wish to breast feed.

We are a dynamic and highly motivated team that is well embedded within the Adult and Health Directorate of the Local Authority, with excellent working relationships across the Council, the local Integrated Care Board (ICB) voluntary sector and wider partners. About you

The successful candidate will bring energy, drive, and innovation, be a self-starter to make a difference, working through the start for life infant feeding programme of work to deliver on the key objectives, achieving UNICEF baby Friendly Initiative accreditation, considering, and supporting the wider community initiatives including You’re Welcome (breastfeeding in public places) and educating parents about the value of breast feeding.

This role would ideally suit a candidate with the ability to implement strategies for health improvement, good understanding of the children and young people’s pathway, with strong networking and influencing/negotiating skills. The post holder will need to develop a good understanding of the context of services in the borough which can support this strand of work within the Family Hubs.
