Blackstone Recruitment are working with a College who are recruiting for a Industry Placement/Work Experience Coordinator to join their site based in East London.

This is a temporary role that could lead to permanent employment.

Job Summary

To work effectively across the college to develop the college’s work experience and Industrial Placement programmes to support the college’s strategic objectives.

To work collaboratively with curriculum teams and key external partners to deliver realistic and appropriate work experience, Industrial placements and employability opportunities for college students.

To ensure the required checks, risk assessments and permissions are completed and in place for students undertaking work experience and Industrial Placements. Support and work with Management Information Systems to ensure all relevant information is recorded and updated accurately.

To monitor learners on placement and complete reports as required.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In common with all other staff:

1.1 To support the College’s mission, vision, values and strategic objectives.

In common with all other staff:

2.1 To participate in College-wide projects and tasks.

2.2 To work in other support services areas to meet the specific needs of workload peaks.

2.3 Such other duties of a similar nature commensurate with the grade as may be required from time to time. This may/will require working in other campuses of the College.

Particular to the Post:

3.1 Work with the Industry Placements and Work Experience Manager to launch Industrial placements and work experience to curriculum teams and students, host events and attend tutorials at the beginning of term and ongoing to match students to placements.

3.2 Source, build and maintain relationships with local, regional and national businesses and other relevant organisations to develop Industrial Placement and work experience opportunities for students on 16-18 study programmes.

3.3 Attend events within and outside the college to promote the college offer

3.4 Attend meetings with employers to discuss Industry placement and/or work experience opportunities

3.5 Coordinate Industrial Placement and Work Experience opportunities in conjunction with Curriculum Teams and ensure all administrative processes are completed accurately in terms of recording Industrial placement/work experience activity, employability, health and safety.

3.6 Implement the systems and processes required to ensure that the college meets the requirements for T Level Industry Placements and work experience

3.7 To work with the Industrial Placements and Work Experience Manager and other Officers to ensure the smooth running of the Industrial Placement and work experience process, from securing a placement to carrying out a final visit and preparing placement report

3.8 Liaise with Curriculum managers to identify appropriate placement projects or activity for each learner

3.9 Liaise with Curriculum managers to identify and place learners on appropriate placement

3.10 Liaise regularly with curriculum teams, matching students to opportunities

3.11 Carry out a programme of placement visits to obtain feedback on students and review progress

3.12 Complete detailed outcome reports on student placements which meet T Level and/or awarding body requirements

3.13 Ensure T level type placements involve employers at each stage of the process and that this is adequately recorded

3.14 Carry out risk assessments at the location of the placement

3.15 Maintain and update the college’s employer database ensuring all organisation information is entered accurately and updated regularly

3.16 Develop and maintain a positive image of the College with both internal and external business relationships

3.17 Work as part of a team and support effective cross campus working ensuring the sharing of good practice and consistent approaches

3.18 Work collaboratively with apprenticeship and full cost teams to promote the college’s offer holistically, passing on relevant leads/information.

3.19 Track and monitor the recording of Industrial Placement and work experience hours by students and tutors, ensuring it is up to date and preparing reports for management on recorded Placement/work experience as appropriate.

3.20 Link with curriculum areas to coordinate, develop and integrate enterprise, employability or enterprise learning provision, events, speaker, visits.

3.21 Work collaboratively with the apprenticeship team to develop and administer a system to advertise employment and apprenticeship opportunities.

3.22 Generate new business opportunities, across all areas of college delivery through a consultative approach.

Job Specifics

Salary/ Rates: Negotiable with experience

Working Hours: 22.5 - 37.5 hours - Mon – Friday

Contract Type: Locum

Essential Criteria

* Successful experience of delivering work experience opportunities for young people

* Knowledge and understanding of current government policy regarding T levels and industry placements

* Experience of employer engagement activity

* Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation and presentation skills

* Good levels of personal IT use and a willingness to enhance these skills

* An understanding of and commitment to Equality & Diversity and Safeguarding & practical ideas for their implementation in this post.
