Construction Cleaner

Cleaner – Construction & Maintenance Support

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Cleaner to join our team, responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout residential buildings following construction, maintenance, and refurbishment works.

The successful candidate will ensure that communal areas, work areas, and affected spaces are left clean, safe, and presentable after tradespeople have completed their works. This role requires attention to detail, a proactive approach, and the ability to work professionally within an occupied residential environment.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out cleaning duties following construction, maintenance, and repair works.
Clean and prepare areas after contractors have completed works, ensuring properties are left to a high standard.
Remove dust, debris, packaging, and waste materials generated from building activities.
Clean communal areas including entrances, hallways, staircases, corridors, lifts, and shared facilities.
Carry out detailed cleaning of surfaces, floors, fixtures, and fittings.
Ensure residential areas remain safe, clean, and welcoming for residents and visitors.
Support trades teams by maintaining tidy and organised work areas.
Carry out final cleans and handover cleans following completion of projects.
Report any damage, hazards, defects, or maintenance issues identified during cleaning duties.
Follow all health and safety procedures, including correct use of cleaning equipment and PPE.
Maintain a professional and respectful approach when working around residents.
Complete cleaning schedules, checklists, and site reports as required.

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience in cleaning, ideally within construction, maintenance, housing, or facilities environments.
Good understanding of post-construction and deep cleaning requirements.
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Good attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality results.
Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
Ability to work safely in an active residential environment.

Desirable Skills

Experience working on residential developments, social housing, or apartment blocks.
Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
Experience working alongside construction and maintenance teams.
Health and safety training such as CSCS or similar site awareness training.
