Academics are working with specialist SEN settings across Brighton and the surrounding areas, seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Individual Needs Assistants to support pupils with a diverse range of additional and complex needs.

This is an opportunity to become an important part of a supportive school team, helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally through personalised learning and consistent encouragement.

Pupils may have needs including:

Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties

ADHD and associated behavioural challenges

Communication and interaction difficulties

Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)

Emotional regulation and sensory processing needs

Developmental delays and complex additional needs

The role will involve:

Providing personalised 1:1 and small-group assistance.

Supporting pupils who may experience difficulties with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.

Encouraging engagement in classroom activities and individual learning programmes.

Implementing positive behaviour support strategies and maintaining consistent routines.

Promoting independence, confidence and essential life skills.

Building positive relationships with pupils and providing a safe, nurturing environment.

Working alongside teachers and specialist staff to support individual learning plans and EHCP outcomes.

Previous experience within an SEN, education or care environment would be beneficial, but we are also keen to hear from individuals who are looking to take their first steps into specialist education.

Candidates with experience in residential care, mental health support, youth work, psychology, mentoring or working with vulnerable young people are encouraged to apply.
