Job Title: Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) - Fostering Services

Location: South West Region, UK

Rate: £48/hr

Job Description:

Contribute to high quality fostering services through reviewing foster carers suitability to foster and terms of approval annually as required by the fostering regulations and with mind to the national minimum standards.

The fostering independent reviewing officer will conduct foster carer annual reviews and high quality reports for Fostering Devon. Quality assurance of service provision, including case management records will be an intrinsic part of this role. Individuals will have the necessary understanding and experience of the role of fostering and the role of an independent reviewing officer. 

Key Responsibilities:

Conducting independent reviews of foster care placements to assess the quality of care provided and the progress of children and young people.

Facilitating meetings with children, their families, foster carers, and other relevant parties to gather information and ensure that the child's voice is heard.

Reviewing and evaluating care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding arrangements to ensure that they are robust and responsive to the needs of the child.

Providing advice, guidance, and support to social workers, foster carers, and other professionals involved in the care of children in foster placements.

Making recommendations for changes to care plans or interventions to improve outcomes for children and young people in foster care.

Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.

Significant experience working within children's services, with a focus on fostering or looked-after children.

Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice guidelines relating to fostering and child protection.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals from diverse backgrounds.

Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities, with a commitment to promoting the best interests of children and young people.
