Description:

We are recruiting on behalf of a small, community-focused housing association in Birmingham for an experienced Income Officer to provide temporary cover.

As an Income Officer, you will focus primarily on rent arrears and income management, managing a relatively small caseload and ensuring appropriate recovery action is taken in line with policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
Review rent accounts and identify missed payments and arrears.
Take appropriate action to progress arrears cases.
Contact tenants to discuss arrears and negotiate repayment arrangements.
Draft and issue rent-related correspondence.
Maintain accurate case records and update the housing management system.
Liaise with the DWP regarding benefits and income-related matters.
Refer tenants to appropriate debt, money and welfare advice services.
Respond to tenant enquiries and provide general housing support.
Undertake occasional tenant and property visits where required.
Support wider housing management duties where appropriate.About You:
The successful Income Officer will have:

Previous experience in an income, rent arrears or housing income role – essential.
Strong knowledge of rent arrears recovery within social housing.
Experience negotiating repayment arrangements with tenants.
Experience drafting rent-related correspondence.
Knowledge of working with the DWP and benefit-related matters.
An understanding of debt, money and welfare advice referral routes.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong organisational and IT skills.Wider housing management experience would be advantageous. A driving licence and access to transport would be beneficial for occasional visits.
Court representation experience is not essential.
