This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and proactive individual who is committed to helping students achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

Working closely with the SENDCo and wider pastoral team, you will support students with a range of additional needs, delivering targeted interventions, promoting positive engagement with learning, and helping students access a broad and balanced curriculum.

The Role

As an Inclusion Mentor, you will provide tailored support to students with SEND and other identified needs, both within the classroom and through intervention programmes delivered in a dedicated inclusion setting. The role will involve building positive relationships with students, families, teaching staff and external agencies to ensure effective support is in place.

A significant proportion of the role will involve working directly with students in lessons, supporting their learning, confidence and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups of students with SEND and additional learning needs.
Support students both inside and outside the classroom to maximise their progress and participation.
Develop and implement strategies that promote social skills, self-esteem, resilience and positive relationships.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to the monitoring and review of student progress.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff to create supportive and inclusive learning environments.
Act as a key point of contact for identified students, ensuring their needs are understood and appropriately supported.
Liaise effectively with parents, carers and external professionals to secure the best outcomes for students.
Support students involved in Early Help processes and contribute to wider pastoral support where required.
Assist with transition arrangements for incoming students with identified SEND needs.
Support the operation of inclusive provision before school, during breaktimes and at lunchtime.
Monitor and support vulnerable, disadvantaged and Pupil Premium students as required.
Attend training, meetings and supervision sessions to continually develop professional practice.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of SEND and inclusive practice.
Be patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with students from a wide range of backgrounds.
Possess excellent communication and organisational skills.
Be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Show commitment to safeguarding, student welfare and promoting positive outcomes for all learners.
Be confident using initiative whilst also working collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies.

What the School Offers

A supportive and inclusive school environment.
Opportunities for professional development and training.
A collaborative SEND and pastoral team.
The chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people every day.
Access to a well-established inclusion provision focused on student success and wellbeing.

Safeguarding Statement

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check and references. The successful candidate will be expected to share this commitment and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct at all times.
