Description:

HV/Power Engineer

Fancy working with the high-current supplies that feed an electrolysis process?
What's in it for you
•Salary: Up to £60k
•Site-wide bonus of 5-10%
•25 days holiday plus bank holidays
•Private medical insurance with Vitality
•Pension - employer contributions of 3%, rising to 5% after five years' service and 7.5% after ten years (minimum 5% employee contribution)
•Permanent, full-time role on days (9 to 5), with on-call support
What will you be doing?
•Acting as the site's Authorised Person (or Senior Authorised Person) for HV switching, isolation and permits
•Operating, inspecting and maintaining HV and LV switchgear, transformers, rectifiers and distribution systems
•Planning and managing power upgrades and new connections as the site expands, working with the network operator
•Monitoring power quality, load and energy use, and recommending improvements
•Keeping electrical safety rules, single-line diagrams and HV records up to date
•Making sure the site meets the Electricity at Work Regulations and relevant standards
•Managing specialist HV contractors
Where you'll be doing it?
You'll be based in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, with a specialist manufacturer of rare materials. Its products go into the magnets used in electric vehicle motors, wind turbines and electronics.
What you'll need
•HNC/HND or degree in Electrical or Power Engineering
•HV Authorised Person for 11kV systems or above (or able to be appointed quickly)
•Experience maintaining HV and LV distribution on an industrial site
•Thorough knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations and BS 7671
It would also help if you have:
•Experience with rectifiers or high-current DC supplies (e.g. electrolysis, smelting or plating)
•Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (IET)
•Experience with power quality and energy efficiency projects
