Salary: £31,650 – £49,084 + TLR (Dependent on Experience)

A well-established secondary school in Aylesbury is seeking an ambitious and inspirational Humanities Lead to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a successful department and play a key role in shaping the educational experience of students across the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Humanities department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across all key stages.

• Develop and deliver an engaging, ambitious, and inclusive Humanities curriculum.

• Monitor student progress and attainment, using data to drive improvements and close achievement gaps.

• Support, mentor, and develop members of the Humanities team through coaching and performance management.

• Promote outstanding classroom practice and share best practice across the department.

• Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, quality assurance, and departmental development plans.

• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attendance, and academic achievement.

• Work closely with Senior Leadership to contribute to whole-school improvement priorities.

• Lead and support enrichment activities, educational visits, and extracurricular opportunities.

• Build strong relationships with students, parents, carers, and external stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

• Significant experience teaching Humanities at secondary level.

• Strong subject knowledge in History, Geography, Religious Studies, or another Humanities discipline.

• Previous middle leadership experience or a proven ability to lead and inspire colleagues.

• A track record of raising attainment and improving outcomes.

• Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.

• A passion for curriculum development and delivering exceptional educational experiences.

• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and continuous professional development.

• Holds or is willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check and provide professional references.
