And right now, we’re looking for a HSSE Specialist. Based at our Capenhurst location. This role will involve the development of site and group arrangements for capturing and implementing learning, identifying events with cross-group relevance, and for measuring the health and effectiveness of learning systems and interventions. This post plays a key role in leading improvements in organisational learning and human performance across the entire Urenco organisation, and Capenhurst.

What will your day look like?

Provide pragmatic and useful advice in the Organisational Learning and Feedback process, , setting the framework, gathering and processing data which allows the organisation to carry out informed threat analysis to assist risk management and continual improvement. This requires collaborative working and intelligence gathering from across the Capenhurst site, building constructive relationships with a wide range of interested parties 
Provide the technical expertise to the development and implementation of a management system which delivers sitewide, risk-based organisational learning and feedback (OPEX). Provision of advice on the practical implementation within the Capenhurst companies to facilitate the development of coherent, intelligence based continual improvement and to support active safety management
Provide advice and challenge to leadership across the Capenhurst site in terms of site performance in organisational learning and feedback including working collaboratively with other areas of the businesses at Capenhurst to identify and implement learning and improvement strategies and activities
Support the business through the development and deployment of appropriate human performance tools
Delivers a range of generic activities as required by departmental management, including leading and contributing to investigations, audits and inspections etc.
Acts as a coach and mentor to others across site in the area of organisational learning and feedback
Develop and implement appropriate internal performance reporting tools and embed them into the running of the three Capenhurst businesses.
What do you need to be great at this role?

Training in causal analysis techniques e.g. Root Cause Analysis
Human performance practitioner training (or a demonstrated commitment to pursuing it).
NEBOSH General Certificate (or a demonstrated commitment to pursuing it).
Educational background at degree level or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated organisational skills and self-sufficiency, capable of effectively managing workload, prioritising tasks, collaborating with others, and providing regular updates to leadership on progress and challenges.
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, including the capacity to convey complex concepts clearly, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage with individuals at all levels of the organisation, fostering trust and collaboration across different departments.
Proficiency in coaching and facilitating learning within the workplace to support the growth of team members and to foster collaboration and teamwork
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a knack for identifying improvement opportunities and implementing effective measures.
Comprehensive understanding of the legislative framework relevant to the Capenhurst site.
Demonstrated track record of providing Operational Excellence Framework (OEF) advice within an industrial setting.
Experience in working with or developing Integrated Management Systems or Safety Management Systems.
Background in nuclear, COMAH, or other high-hazard industries.
Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, even in situations involving conflicting priorities, and outside of one's direct reporting line.
