We are seeking HSE Manager to join our team and continue the exceptional work of promoting a culture of safety and driving continuous improvement across the site. We are looking for a dedicated professional to uphold and enhance our commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence. 

Key job requirements 

Safety is fundamental to Smurfit Kappa's operations, and all colleagues are expected to contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to company policies within their respective areas and performing their duties safely. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the HSE Manager will lead safety initiatives, manage safety records and systems, conduct training, investigate accidents, and ensure compliance with legal requirements. Additionally, the role includes responsibilities for monitoring environmental performance, contributing to waste reduction efforts, and working towards ISO14001 accreditation. The HSE Manager will collaborate closely with the site leadership team to implement and drive our HSE strategy.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety as a top priority and embody our core values of loyalty, integrity, and trust. To excel in the HSE Manager role at Smurfit Kappa, you will need a comprehensive understanding of HSE legislation and best practices, proficiency in conducting risk assessments, and experience in policy implementation. Preferred skills/qualifications include NEBOSH certificate/diploma, working knowledge of GDPR and familiarity with accreditations and policies such as BRC, FSC, ESOS, and ISO.

As the HSE Manager, you will engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, requiring excellent communication skills. Internally, this includes all local departments, with a particular focus on operations, as well as UK Operations Director, UK & I Safety Director and Divisional Safety Manager. Externally, you will interact with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and other regulatory authorities concerning health, safety, and environmental matters. Building and maintaining strong relationships with these stakeholders is crucial for ensuring compliance, promoting a culture of safety, and driving continuous improvement in HSE performance across the site. Your ability to communicate effectively across all levels will be essential in presenting data, conducting training, and fostering collaboration.
