Health & Safety Manager

Yolk Recruitment is thrilled to support a prestigious global food company in their quest to find a dynamic Health & Safety Manager. If you are passionate about food safety and want to make a tangible difference in a company that values tradition, quality, and innovation, this is the role for you!

You will be responsible for ensuring site compliance with all applicable Health and Safety legislation, you will collaborate closely with all departments and managers across Primary and Retail business units to identify and mitigate health and safety risks. You will also develop and implement the site Health and Safety strategy and management systems, ensuring that health and safety coaching, pragmatic advice, and support are available for the Site Management Team to support business operations.

This is what you'll be doing:

Develop and implement a comprehensive site health and safety strategy, aligning it with both the site business strategy and the group health and safety strategy.
Drive, influence, and enhance the site health and safety agenda, practices, policies, and procedures in collaboration with the Senior Management Team.
Handle effective and timely case management of workplace accidents and injuries, including investigations, outcomes, recommendations, and implementation of improvements, in collaboration with key stakeholders.
Work with relevant departments to maintain and develop the regular internal auditing program and processes, measuring performance and action planning based on the outputs.
Manage and support investigations into personal injury claims.
Facilitate and guide the site management team in conducting risk assessments for all site operations, including contractors.
Manage emergency drill and response procedures, including coordinating emergency teams such as fire marshals and first aiders.
Manage and maintain the health and safety sections of the site Integrated Management System.
Conduct regular unscheduled site safety audits to ensure compliance with industry and legislative obligations and company policies and procedures.
Participate in regular site management meetings to report on relevant health and safety matters.
Provide support and guidance to site management teams on company health and safety reporting tools and channels, such as toolbox talks and hazard observations.
Liaise with the group health and safety team to ensure compliance with company health and safety policies and procedures.
Support the site production-based Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) system, including reviewing and risk assessing tasks and drafting relevant procedures.
Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety, and welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business, updating processes and procedures as required.And this is what you'll need:

Experience working within a food manufacturing environment is advantageous.
NEBOSH general.
