Health & Safety Assistant Manager
Wednesbury, on-site
£35,000 to £40,000 (depending on experience)
Full-time Monday to Friday

Are you an experienced Health and Safety Assistant looking to join a growing manufacturing company based in Wednesbury? This is an exciting opportunity, supporting the Health and Safety Manager, covering 3 sites based locally in the West Midlands. You must have previous experience within a similar Health and Safety Assistant Management role, or if you have vast experience as an Assistant or Officer Health and Safety role and are looking for progression in your career.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Assistant:
Assist the H&S Manager in maintaining a high level of awareness in legislation and advise employee and managers accordingly.
Actively drive world class manufacturing practice, whilst ensuring the safety of every employee or external visitor.
Facilitate training for employees in safe work practices for newly hired or refresher training.
Work closely with key stakeholders to maintain best practice and a safety-lead culture.
Responsible for the review, approval and enforcement of all safety procedures, training and metrics reporting; ensure all documentation is controlled as per the HSE system.
Support the interpretation and implementation of the Health & Safety Management System to BS ISO 45001: 2018.
Monitor and maintain comprehensive records of compliance with company policies, OH&S Management System and procedures.
Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are correctly reported and investigated in accordance with company policies and procedure.
Ensure that all health and safety issues are considered and adhered to.
Support with undertaking internal audits and produce reports from findings.
Maintain safety files, records and logs and provide accurate information for monthly management reports.
Work with all employees as necessary to achieve key performance indicators and programmes.
Assist in the development, annual review and upgrading of existing safety programs.
Support onboarding of new employees and provide them with inductions and orientation of OH&S.
Support Site/Service division with the issue of specific documentation and the management of safe systems/procedures whilst carrying out site activities.
Ad hoc support provided to the Health & Safety Manager as required.
Requirements of the Health and Safety Assistant Manager:
Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate Level 3 or diploma or equivalent level 6 in Occupational Health and Safety (required).
Knowledge of BS ISO 45001: 2018 Management System (required).
A good understanding of legal requirements and compliance (required).
Full valid driving license (required).
Member of IOSH (desirable).
Knowledge of COSHH system requirements (desirable).
First Aid and Mental Health First Aid Trained (desirable).
Internal Auditor (desirable).
