Pay: £18.35 per hour PAYE
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office
Duration: 3 months initially with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.
We are looking for an experienced Housing & Welfare Officer to join a busy team delivering specialist housing and welfare advice and support to customers across the borough.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in housing, homelessness prevention and welfare rights who is passionate about helping people maximise their income, secure suitable housing and improve their wellbeing.
The Role
Provide specialist advice on housing, homelessness legislation, housing rights and welfare benefits.
Support customers with income maximisation and welfare rights.
Deliver housing and welfare solutions in line with current legislation, policies and procedures.
Represent customers at Tribunals and Court Hearings where required.
Work collaboratively with partner organisations and support joint initiatives and externally funded projects.
Deliver a responsive, customer-focused service that promotes independence and wellbeing.
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in a Housing & Welfare, Housing Options, Homelessness or Welfare Rights role.
Good knowledge of homelessness legislation, housing law and welfare benefits.
Experience supporting vulnerable customers with complex housing and welfare issues.
Experience preparing reports, case records and supporting legal proceedings where required.
Excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills.
Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently.
Strong IT and case management skills.
Working Pattern
Hybrid working.
Office attendance required 3 days per week.
