If so, you're in luck. Moxie People is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Housing Support Worker for a full-time, 6-month temporary contract for a Wales-based and highly respected homelessness charity.

The important bits…

Job Title: Housing Support Worker
Salary: £12.28 per hour + £1.79 holiday pay (weekly pay: £491 / monthly pay: £2,129)
Location: Merthyr Tydfil
Contract: 6 months + (initially until early 2025, with the potential to extend or even become permanent)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (9am-5pm, with some flexibility)
Start Date: Late June 2024

Your role as a Housing Support Worker…

Support a team of senior support workers with home visits and outreach work to support people in a trauma-informed way.
Build meaningful relationships with people who have experienced ACES, homelessness, substance misuse and prison.
Help clients navigate housing and non-housing appointments and assist with form-filling and benefit applications.
Support a range of in-house programs designed to achieve successful outcomes for our clients.
Aid in finding and setting up accommodation, including sourcing furniture and equipment.
Help people to develop the life skills and confidence to live independently, including budgeting, personal wellbeing and hygiene, food shops, booking appointments etc.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to the preparation of case and statistical reports.
Empower people to attend social activities and community events, food shops, job centre appointments, etc.

What you'll need to be successful…

A passion for supporting vulnerable clients to achieve positive life changes.
Experience delivering excellent front-line support in mental health, homelessness, substance misuse, housing-related support, criminal justice or supported living.
A good understanding of benefits
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Good IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office.
Empathy and compassion towards those people who are experiencing homelessness and substance misuse.
Resilience, to go on a journey with vulnerable people - supporting them through the highs and lows.
