The Opportunity:

We are seeking compassionate, proactive, and dedicated Support Workers to join our teams across Kendal and Barrow-in-Furness on a temporary, monthly contract basis. In this rewarding role, you will work within social housing settings to provide vital day-to-day assistance to vulnerable residents, empowering them to sustain their tenancies, build independent living skills, and thrive within their local communities.

Key Duties:

* Deliver high-quality, person-centred support to residents, tailoring your approach to meet their individual needs and goals.

* Assist customers with practical independent living skills, including budgeting, managing rent accounts, and navigating welfare benefits.

* Conduct regular welfare checks and health and safety inspections across housing schemes to ensure resident well-being and compliance.

* Act as a key point of contact for residents, offering emotional support, crisis intervention, and a listening ear.

* Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary internal teams and external partner agencies, such as health and social care services.

* Maintain accurate, up-to-date daily logs, incident reports, and support plan documentation using digital tools.

* Coordinate with housing officers to assist with the smooth transition of residents during sign-ups, move-ins, and void processes.

Benefits:

* Competitive Rate: £15.00 – £16.00 per hour (dependent on experience).

* Flexibility: Temporary, rolling monthly contracts providing excellent flexibility.

* Locations: Multiple vacancies available across both Kendal and Barrow-in-Furness.

* Support Levels: Comprehensive on-the-job training, local team induction, and regular supervision.

* Varied Working Patterns: A range of shift patterns available to suit your lifestyle.

Requirements:

* Experience: Previous experience in a customer-facing or care/support role—ideally within social housing, social care, or community outreach—is highly desirable.

* Values: A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable individuals.

* Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations calmly and professionally.

* Knowledge: A basic understanding of the challenges facing social housing residents and the importance of adult safeguarding.

* Administration: Proficient IT skills for updating digital support plans, log entries, and emails.

* Compliance: Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

* Mobility: A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is advantageous for traveling between local schemes.
