Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Housing Options Manager to work with one of our Local Authority clients.
What the Job Will Be Doing
* Managing and supporting a team of Housing Options and Homelessness Officers.
* Overseeing homelessness assessments and statutory decisions under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
* Ensuring compliance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, the Homelessness Code of Guidance and all relevant legislation.
* Monitoring caseloads, KPIs, service standards and customer outcomes.
* Providing technical guidance on complex homelessness cases, including eligibility, priority need, intentional homelessness and local connection.
* Reviewing the quality and accuracy of Section 184 decision letters, Personalised Housing Plans and case records.
* Managing escalated complaints, legal challenges and high-risk cases.
* Developing and implementing effective homelessness prevention and relief strategies.
* Working closely with internal departments, Registered Providers, support agencies and external partners.
* Supporting the effective use and procurement of temporary accommodation and private rented sector options.
* Producing performance reports and identifying opportunities for continuous service improvement.
* Managing staff performance, supervision, training, development and absence management.
* Ensuring safeguarding concerns are identified, recorded and escalated appropriately.
What You Will Need
* Previous management experience within a Housing Options or Homelessness service.
* Strong knowledge of Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
* Experience managing complex homelessness assessments and statutory decision-making.
* Excellent understanding of homelessness prevention, relief and temporary accommodation duties.
* Experience managing performance, KPIs and operational service delivery.
* Ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
* Strong communication, organisational and decision-making skills.
* Experience managing complaints, legal challenges and complex casework.
* Good understanding of safeguarding, equality legislation and data protection.
* Previous experience working within a Local Authority Housing Service
