Tate are delighted to be working with a large local authority to recruit Housing Officers to help support their Refugee Resettlement Scheme!

Purpose of the job

To manage and lead allocated projects relating to housing Asian, Afghan and Middle East and North African Refugee families on the Home Office Afghan Citizens Resettlement Programme and UK Resettlement Scheme in Bristol; and/or provide housing advice and support to Ukrainian guests who have fled the Ukrainian war and arrived in the UK under the Homes for Ukraine Scheme since April 2022.

To provide a high quality service to landlords and resettled tenants. All tenants have English as an additional language and the majority of tenants are newly arrived and have minimal English.

Key job outcomes/accountabilities

Manage, monitor progress of projects to ensure project objectives (e.g. time/ cost and quality) agreed by the Resettlement Lettings Manager are met:

Organise and supervise project work to satisfy the requirements of the Refugee Resettlement Programme schedules and objectives; sourcing properties from the Private Rent Sector, liaising with landlords, effective collection of rents and maintenance works.
To ensure the application of best value principles in all projects through a customer focused and value for money approach.
Development and maintenance of comprehensive policies, procedures, training material and information on-line for contractors, landlords, staff and/ or tenants through consultation with all stakeholders.
Makes decisions on maintaining properties and offers assistance e.g. house inspections, tenant liaison, supervising repairs.
Develop and maintain a research, consultation and communication framework for the project that includes managers, staff, refugees and other stakeholders.
Research, prepare and present reports and briefing notes/ presentations for the Refugee Resettlement Programme Board.
To organise and attend consultation meetings/ seminars/ working groups with key stakeholders as appropriate.
To provide support to and to represent the Resettlement Lettings Manager and ensure continuation of the project in accordance with the agreed project plan.
Ensuring information is recorded accurately and records are maintained (in accordance with data protection) and electronic files are linked accordingly.

What you need

Degree, diploma or HNC equivalent qualification in a related subject to the project task and/or experience of working in a project support role.
Knowledge and understanding of the principles of project management and demonstrable project management skills
Knowledge of private housing legislation and tenant management issues
Strong demonstrable analytical and research skills including a working knowledge of the internet as a research tool
Commitment to, and experience of involving service users and stakeholders in policy development
Good organisational skills in prioritising work, meeting deadlines and organising schedules
Flexible attitude to work and a willingness to work from a variety of locations
Effective communication skills with the ability to converse with citizens and provide complex information and to resolve confrontational situations in accurate spoken English, or through a BSL interpreter both orally and in writing.
Able to demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of equality and diversity issues.
Have a working knowledge of Microsoft office applications or equivalent including the following: email (outlook or equivalent), word processing (word or equivalent), spreadsheets (excel or equivalent) using the internet (internet explorer or equivalent) Have a willingness to learn new applications and technology as appropriate.
