Job Title: Housing Officer
Location: Hybrid - 1 day work from home and 4 days in the office based in Rugby (CV21)
Hourly Pay Rate: £15.70 to £17.59 dependent on experience
Hours: 37 per week
Length of the contract: 6 Months

Gi Group are now seeking to appoint an experienced Housing Officer to our Public Sector client based in Rugby. The Housing Officer will provide all housing management functions to the client as far as they affect tenants to achieve housing objectives and the priorities of the client. The Housing Officer will also contribute as a member of a multi-functional team of housing staff to provide a seamless, qualitative, and customer focused service.

Duties of the Housing Officer

Provide a housing management service for all tenants of the client's general needs properties.
Provide advice, assistance, and information to tenants and the general public by way of office interviews, home visits, telephone calls, written correspondence, and email efficiently and courteously with emphasis on customer care.
Liaise with the Senior Housing Officer and Housing Services Team Leader and other Officers to ensure appropriate guidance and information is provided in the delivery of housing services and to identify and resolve any complaints or problems.
Liaise with and support new tenants in the settling in period and visit within four weeks of their moving into the property to complete a settling in visit.
Work with internal departments and external organisations to ensure where possible tenancies are sustained through a multi-agency approach and individual support packages.
Refer tenants to the Income Officers for specialist advise on rent payments income maximisation and rent recovery.
Complete income and expenditure exercises with customers to ensure they are in receipt of all eligible benefits and are offered assistance around their budget. Where appropriate working with partner organisations to ensure the customer has access to specialist support.
Review flexible and introductory tenancies within appropriate timescales and make decisions based on the review around the rent account, anti-social behaviour, and suitability of the property.
Investigate, report and act upon possible breaches of tenancy conditions using all appropriate methods including Court action to remedy breaches.
Manage and investigate complaints of anti-social behaviour and neighbour disputes and take prompt and appropriate action against offenders in conjunction with other agencies such as the police and social services. Ensure accurate records are maintained, collate witness statements and ensure we are working within current legislation.
Promote tenant participation wherever possible, establishing and maintaining productive links and promoting equal opportunities within the service.
Role Criteria

A minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a customer focused environment.
Full current driving licence.
Knowledge of Health and Safety policies and legislation.
An understanding of the welfare benefit system.
Have an understanding of the current housing issues and the local and national political and social framework within which local authority housing services operate.
Working towards full membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing or equivalent qualification.
Able to maintain confidentiality and compliance to Human Rights and Data Protection legislation.
Must be able to make concise written reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Follow laid down policies and procedures.
Able to encourage Tenant Participation.
