Housing Enforcement Officer

Our local authority client is looking for an experienced Housing Enforcement Officer to join their busy team based in Northampton. Full details below:

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

* The goal is to offer an efficient, high-quality advisory, informational, and enforcement service for houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), ensuring they are well-managed, safe, and habitable, and that all licensable HMOs obtain the necessary licensing.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

* Qualified Housing Enforcement Officer, with a relevant Degree; or proven relevant Private Sector Housing enforcement experience.

* Experience of working in a team responsible for the regulation and enforcement of standards in private sector housing, and using risk based inspection programmes, utilising the full range of enforcement options

* In-depth knowledge of the Housing Acts, the Housing Health & Safety Rating System and local authorities’ regulatory and enforcement powers in relation to HMOs and private sector housing conditions, and their practical application
