Job Title: Housing Allocations Officer

Location: Surrey

Rate: £20.00 - £24.00 per hour

Contract: 6 Months

Working Pattern: Full Time

Housing Allocations Officer required for an established Local Authority in Surrey on an initial 6-month contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing housing applications, managing the housing register, and allocating social housing in accordance with legislation, policy, and local procedures. You will play a key role in delivering a fair and efficient allocations service while providing excellent customer support to applicants and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and process housing applications in line with the Housing Allocations Scheme.

• Determine eligibility, qualification, and priority for housing applicants.

• Manage and maintain housing register records, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.

• Administer Choice Based Lettings (CBL) and property allocation processes.

• Conduct reviews of housing applications and banding decisions.

• Provide housing advice and guidance to applicants regarding their housing options.

• Liaise with Registered Providers, landlords, support agencies, and internal departments.

• Investigate changes in circumstances and reassess housing needs where required.

• Ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation, policies, and service standards.

• Handle enquiries, complaints, and correspondence in a professional and timely manner.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working within Housing Allocations, Housing Needs, Housing Register, or a similar Local Authority housing role.

• Strong understanding of housing allocations legislation and statutory guidance.

• Experience managing housing applications and allocations cases.

• Knowledge of Choice Based Lettings systems.

• Excellent communication, decision-making, and organisational skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload.

• Experience using housing management systems such as Northgate, Civica, Jigsaw, or similar is desirable.
