Apple Recruitment are recruiting for a Hospital Specialty Programme Manager on behalf of the NI Medical and Dental Training Agency.

Job Purpose:

NIMDTA is responsible to provide postgraduate education through effective strategic leadership and governance. There are 56 training programmes within the remit of the hospital training department.

The Hospital Training Programme Manager is responsible for the effective management of the programme for Hospital Training meeting the Departments Strategic objectives. This includes undertaking specific projects to modernize and reform the hospital training systems and processes ensuring that they are completed to strict deadlines and providing bi-weekly updates on progress. This is done in conjunction with national stakeholders such as NHS England, Royal Colleges and MDRS.

The Programme Support Manager has the responsibility for successful delivery of the required outcomes, within appropriate governance and assurance, monitoring progress, managing risks and issues to ensure successful business delivery.

Job Description:

1. Undertake specific projects to reform and modernise hospital training programmes to support the Director in meeting strategic objectives.

2. Demonstrate the ability to work on his or her own initiative and make decisions appropriate to the level of the post within the organisation.

3. Plan, organise and prioritise own workload to ensure project objectives are met on time, ensuring the Director of Hospital Specialty Training is kept informed of project progress, and escalating problems where necessary.

4. Participate in and lead, when appropriate, relevant internal and external working groups/projects, e.g. medical leave to meet curricular requirements, special circumstances, out of programme fellowships to develop the workforce of the HSC, inter-deanery transfer programmes, to ensure timely completion.

5. Ensure joint working and consistency of approach across the departmental objectives.

6. Provide regular reporting to the Department of Health on the medical workforce plans and update on opportunities for the introduction of new specialty training programmes to meet the needs of the HSC.

7. Contribute to the discussions on informing the targeting of resources, monitoring, implementing and evaluating projects and initiatives by providing sophisticated, high quality project analysis.

8. Utilising a range of facts or situations for the purposes of comparison allowing national benchmarking to occur.

9. Work collaboratively with Trust HR teams to support medical training programmes in the HSC.

10. In conjunction with the Director of Hospital Specialty Training, identify and work through constraints and risks that inhibit the progress of specialty training programme delivery at regional level.

11. Contributing to performance improvement, taking a lead for specific specialties/resource groups where agreed.

12. Responsible for the management of budgets in Hospital Specialty Training.

Essential Criteria:

Applicants must, by the closing date for applications, have:

1a. A university degree or equivalent professional qualification AND 3 years’ experience working in an operational or project management environment within HSC.

OR

1b. A minimum of 5 years' experience working in an operational or project management environment within HSC.

AND

2) Demonstrable experience of undertaking and presenting detailed analysis of complex data to senior management to support the delivery of service improvement and to achieve successful outcomes

3) Demonstrable experience of supporting change/transformation projects and achieving these improvements at an organisational level.

4) Demonstrable experience of developing, assessing, monitoring and reviewing service Proposals

Further Details:

· Hourly Rate: Band 7 - £22.37

· Duration: 2 months in the first instance

· Hours: 37.5 hours per week
