Barking and Dagenham, London
Pay: £110 - £135 per day

Contract: Full-time, Long-term

About the Role:

Vocational Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and Outstanding Ofsted-rated primary school in Barking and Dagenham to appoint a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a full-time role starting in September 2026.

This exciting opportunity will involve delivering full class cover across all year groups within the primary phase. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and senior leaders to provide high-quality classroom support and deliver engaging lessons in teachers’ absence. No planning will be required for this role.

The school is looking for a proactive and adaptable HLTA who is confident covering classes independently and building positive relationships with pupils across the school.

Key Responsibilities for the HLTA role:

* Deliver full class cover across EYFS, KS1, and KS2

* Follow lesson plans provided by teaching staff

* Support pupils’ learning and classroom engagement

* Manage classroom behaviour effectively

* Build positive relationships with pupils and staff

* Provide feedback to teachers regarding pupil progress and behaviour

* Support the wider school team when required

* Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

Requirements for the HLTA role:

* HLTA qualification or relevant classroom experience

* Previous experience covering classes within a primary school

* Confident working across all primary year groups

* Strong behaviour management skills

* Excellent communication and organisational skills

* Flexible, reliable, and adaptable approach

* Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
