We’re currently recruiting for an experienced HIU Engineer to join a fast-growing specialist utility services business operating across the UK.
With over 15 years’ industry experience and a team of more than 115 employees, the company has built an excellent reputation for delivering installation, maintenance, metering and billing services across the heat network sector.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to join an established business, work on a variety of domestic heat network projects across London, and benefit from structured training and career development.

* £44,000 basic salary, increasing to £47,000 following completion of probation
* Up to £6,000 KPI-related bonus – up to £1,500 paid quarterly

The Role
As an HIU Engineer, you’ll play an important role in ensuring heat network and metering systems are installed, commissioned, maintained and operating efficiently.
You’ll work across a variety of new-build developments and occupied residential properties, carrying out installation, servicing, maintenance and fault-finding on HIUs, heat meters and Pay-As-You-Go metering systems.
The role will involve both technical engineering work and regular interaction with clients, contractors and customers, so strong communication and a professional approach are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Install and commission prepayment and controlled-credit metering systems
* Commission market-leading Pay-As-You-Go metering systems on new-build residential heat networks
* Install and retrofit Pay-As-You-Go systems, including prepayment valves, spurs and wiring
* Carry out HIU replacement, servicing and maintenance
* Install and replace heat meters on district heating networks
* Carry out reactive maintenance within occupied residential properties
* Complete post-installation upgrade and maintenance programmes
* Diagnose and resolve faults with HIUs, heat meters and associated systems
* Provide technical support with AMR, M-Bus and Zigbee/RF systems
* Use laptops and tablets to commission equipment and maintain accurate records
* Liaise with main contractors, clients, consultants and other trades on site
* Maintain appropriate levels of tools, equipment, spares and consumables
* Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
Skills & Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 Plumbing & Heating or above
* Previous experience working with HIUs
* Basic electrical knowledge
* Full UK Driving Licence
* CSCS card or the ability to obtain one
* First Aid qualification would be advantageous
* A professional and customer-focused approach
* The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
