Job Opportunity: Classroom Teacher and Form Tutor (Maternity Cover)

Employer: Dunbar Education

Position Available: Teacher of History and Religious Studies (Maternity Cover)

Experience teaching GCSE History (ideally AQA) and GCSE Religious Studies (ideally AQA) required.
Either subject as a main focus will be considered.
One-year maternity cover, suitable for ECTs.
Potential for TLR as Second in Department for more experienced candidates.
Start date: September.
Pay scale: MPS/UPS.Job Purpose: As a Classroom Teacher and Form Tutor, you will be directly accountable for the academic achievement, behavior, and pastoral care of students in your teaching and form groups. You will implement and uphold the academy's pastoral policies, including those related to behavior, life lessons, racial equality, anti-bullying, uniform, attendance, punctuality, and core routines.

Responsibilities:

Classroom Teacher

Report to: Relevant Head of Department and ultimately the Principal.
Follow departmental guidelines for schemes of work and curriculum maps.
Aim for good or better teaching and learning in each lesson, adhering to OFSTED criteria.
Mark work according to the academy's assessment policy and departmental procedures.
Guide and support all students to help them achieve their academic targets.
Set regular extended learning tasks in line with the published timetable and Extended Learning Policy.
Provide data on pupils as requested, complete reports to deadlines, and attend parents' evenings.
Adhere to core routines, behavior policy, and additional procedures for behavior management and rewards.
Follow safety policies at all times.
Attend briefings and departmental meetings, maintaining good time-keeping and a professional appearance.
Maintain a classroom base and create an environment conducive to learning with interactive displays.Form Tutor

Report to: Relevant Head of Learning.
Collect absence notes and complete weekly absence reports.
Use data to celebrate success/progress and monitor underachievement and lack of effort.
Monitor attendance and punctuality, taking action to improve them as necessary.
Communicate with parents/carers via telephone, letter, and email for both celebrations and concerns.
Deliver a morning tutorial program and the Life Lesson program as agreed with the Assistant Headteacher.
Foster a positive climate among staff and students, encouraging confidence and positive attitudes towards learning.
Promote participation in the whole school "House" system.
Conduct daily equipment and uniform checks and take action according to academy policies.
Take daily attendance registers in accordance with the academy's Attendance policy.
Notify the Head of Learning of any changes in personal or family circumstances relating to pupils in the form.
Display and maintain up-to-date important information and notices in the form room.
Relay relevant notices from staff briefings to students.
Attend all year team meetings and contribute positively.
Escort students to and during assemblies, ensuring high standards of uniform and behavior.
Escort students to centralised late detention every evening.
