Job Description

Supply Desk are supporting a well-established secondary school in Southampton in their search for a dedicated History Teacher to join their team as soon as possible.

This is a full-time position teaching History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the role expected to continue until July 2027. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging History lessons, monitoring student progress, and inspiring students to develop a deeper understanding of historical events, interpretations, and their relevance to the modern world.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality History lessons across KS3 and KS4
Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with the national curriculum
Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
Contribute to curriculum development within the Humanities department
Work collaboratively with colleagues to support departmental success
Contribute positively to the wider life of the school

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Strong subject knowledge in History
Experience teaching History at secondary level
Excellent classroom management skills
Passion for raising attainment and inspiring young people
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
Ability to engage students of varying abilities and backgrounds
