Weekly Pay Every Friday
Oxfordshire County Council is seeking an experienced Highway Inspector to help keep the county's highway network safe, compliant, and well maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out planned and reactive highway safety inspections.
Identify, assess, and record highway defects.
Raise and manage repair orders, ensuring works are completed within required timescales.
Monitor highway works and ensure compliance with council standards.
Respond to enquiries from residents, councillors, and stakeholders.
Maintain accurate inspection records to support statutory defence and claims.
Support highway maintenance programmes and asset management activities.
Promote safe working practices and excellent customer service.
Requirements:
✅ Proven experience in highway inspections or highways maintenance
✅ Strong knowledge of highway safety standards and risk assessment
✅ Experience using highway asset management systems (e.g. Symology/Insight)
✅ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
✅ Full UK driving licence
This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy local authority team and play a key role in maintaining and improving Oxfordshire's highway network.
