Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Highway Development Control Engineer to come and join a busy client in the Merseyside area to provide professional leadership, advice and guidance on a range of highway schemes, including those proposed by developers as part of the planning process, preparing and implementing highway traffic and transportation schemes and related programmes of work through to delivery, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
 
The main duties and responsibilities of the experienced Principal Highway Development Control Engineer are:

To organise, motivate and advise staff in the delivery of statutory Highway Authority functions, including statutory consultee for planning applications and development of related transport schemes.
Assist the Service Managers in the development of strategies and priorities for the effective delivery of the department's Service Plan, Local Transport Plan and Capital Programme.
Working to the Service Manager, lead the response on planning application consultations, pre application enquiries and local plans/strategies. Provide specialist advice of modelling and scheme design. Evaluate infrastructure design and construction proposals submitted to the Council by developers/ contractors and other third parties.
Provide advice and respond to enquiries in connection with the service's and third party programmes of work. Work in partnership with Section 38/278 and flood risk engineers to enable adoption of new schemes.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of current legislation, standards and practices in connection with the requirements of this post.
Assist in the development and maintenance of the service's technical, operational and management systems and records.
The above position is hybrid working. You will be required to be office based 1-2 days a week.
