About the Role:

We are seeking a talented Highway Asset Manager to oversee the strategic management of our extensive highway assets, valued at approximately £1.6 billion. As our region continues to grow, this role will harness future technological advances to maximise the lifespan and efficiency of our assets.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Manage the development and maintenance of multi-million pound annual and long-term plans using asset and condition data.
Data-Driven Approach: Lead an asset data-led approach, including asset inventory data, condition data, deterioration modelling, lifecycle plans, and service levels to meet national standards.
Policy Development: Develop, monitor, and review Asset Management Policies and Strategies, ensuring timely data collection and interpretation.
Team Management: Lead and develop a team of technical staff, providing direction and support to achieve their potential.
Budget Management: Allocate, monitor, and report on budgets associated with the planned maintenance of highway assets.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with contractors, elected members, and other stakeholders to deliver efficient and cost-effective asset management solutions.Your Team:

Ensure the strategic management of highway assets to meet service needs and priorities.
Champion asset management and planning principles across the wider Highways service.
Provide excellent responsiveness and service to all stakeholders.Your Customers:

Residents and the public
Elected members and town/parish councils
Staff within the organisation
MPs, government officials, senior personnel from other councils and partner organisations
Statutory undertakers and developersAbout You:

Experience: Extensive experience in the Highways and Transport sector with developed knowledge of Asset Management software and industry codes of practice.
Skills: Strong commercial acumen and the ability to deliver a service integrating whole-life asset planning principles.
Communication: Excellent communicator, able to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
Leadership: Proven experience in managing, coaching, and developing technical teams.
Technical Expertise: Background in highway or civil engineering with evidence of continuous professional development and industry-related knowledge.Expectations:
