Higher Level Teaching Assistant - The Role

The successful Higher Level Teaching Assistant will be expected to:

Cover classes across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
Deliver engaging lessons using existing lesson plans
Take responsibility for the classroom when covering
Maintain strong behaviour and learning expectations
Adapt quickly between different year groups
Support pupils with varying abilities and needs
Work effectively alongside class teachers and support staff
Create a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment

ECTs Are Welcome to Apply

This Higher Level Teaching Assistant opportunity is also open to ECTs who are looking to gain additional classroom experience before starting their teaching career.

If you are an ECT with QTS who would like to develop your confidence across different year groups, this Higher Level Teaching Assistant role could provide excellent experience in a supportive primary environment.

There is also the potential for the successful candidate to progress into a permanent position after the academic year, making this an excellent opportunity for an ECT looking to get their foot in the door and demonstrate their teaching ability.

What We're Looking For

The school is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant who has:

Previous experience covering classes in a primary school
Strong behaviour management skills
Confidence taking responsibility for a classroom
The ability to work across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
A positive and adaptable approach
Strong communication and classroom management skills
A valid Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one through Reeson EducationAn experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant would be ideal, but ECTs are more than welcome to apply if they are confident managing a classroom and keen to build their experience.
