Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Croydon, London

Salary: £110 - £130 per day, depending on qualifications and experience.

Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

Start date: 19/10/2026

Hours: Term time, 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Use your classroom experience to take a more active lead in pupils’ learning. Transparency Education is recruiting two Higher Level Teaching Assistants for primary school opportunities in Croydon.

You will combine planned class cover with targeted interventions, helping pupils understand new concepts and consolidate what they have learnt. Confidence leading a class and communicating useful feedback to teachers will be important.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned learning during agreed whole-class cover

• Lead focused literacy and numeracy groups

• Adapt resources under the direction of teaching staff

• Manage classroom routines and reinforce positive behaviour

• Monitor understanding and share progress with teachers and the SENCO

Requirements

• HLTA status or equivalent experience of higher-level classroom responsibilities

• Experience supporting learning in a primary setting

• Confidence leading groups and providing planned class cover

• Good literacy, numeracy and organisation

• An enhanced DBS check appropriate to the role, or willingness to complete one.
