Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Primary School

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step in your career?

We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and supportive primary school.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and confident taking on additional classroom responsibilities while making a real difference to pupils' learning and development.

The Role

As an HLTA, you will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to provide high-quality support across the school.

Your responsibilities may include:

Leading lessons and classroom activities when required

Providing whole-class cover under the direction of teaching staff

Delivering targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions

Supporting pupils across different year groups

Assisting with the planning and preparation of learning activities

Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs

Promoting positive behaviour and engagement

Monitoring pupils' progress and providing feedback to teaching staff

Helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment

We're Looking For Someone Who:

Has previous experience working within a primary school

Holds an HLTA qualification/status or relevant equivalent experience

Is confident leading groups and covering whole classes

Has a strong understanding of the primary curriculum

Is organised, adaptable and able to use their initiative

Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff

Has excellent communication and behaviour management skills

Is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential
