Location: Bardon, Coalville, leicestershire
Pay: up to £51,000 per annum
Shift options:
* Four days per week: 15:00pm – 02:30am
* Five days per week: 16:00pm – 12:00am (midnight)
About Irlam Associates
Irlam Associates specialises in recruitment across transport, logistics and supply chain. We are recruiting an HGV Technician on behalf of our client to support the maintenance, safety and reliability of their commercial vehicle fleet.
The Role
You will carry out servicing, inspections, diagnostics and repairs on HGVs, ensuring vehicles are maintained to a high standard and returned to service safely and efficiently. Working closely with the workshop and transport teams, you will help minimise vehicle downtime and maintain fleet availability.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and safety inspections on HGVs.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults.
* Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and rectify identified defects.
* Repair braking, suspension, steering, transmission and associated vehicle systems.
* Identify and report defects, escalating safety concerns promptly.
* Complete accurate inspection sheets, job cards and maintenance records.
* Work with the workshop and transport teams to prioritise repairs and minimise downtime.
* Follow manufacturer specifications, workshop procedures and health and safety requirements.
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
Skills and Experience
* Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
* A recognised qualification in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally Level 3, or equivalent practical experience.
* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
* Experience carrying out HGV servicing, inspections and repairs.
* A good understanding of vehicle roadworthiness and workshop safety standards.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A reliable approach, strong attention to detail and pride in your work.
* An HGV driving licence would be advantageous.
Pay and Working Hours
Up to £51,000 (DOE), with two shift patterns available:
* Four days per week: 15:00–02:30.
* Five days per week: 16:00–00:00.
