HGV Technician / Mechanic

Location: Walton-on-Thames, Surrey
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus overtime
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, flexible start between 7:00am and 8:00am, finishing approximately 5:00pm. Paid 40-hour basic week, with regular overtime and optional Saturday half days

ISQ Recruitment is recruiting for an HGV Technician / Mechanic to join a well-established transport business in Walton-on-Thames. With earnings of up to £60,000 per annum plus overtime, this opportunity offers varied workshop duties, weekday hours and support to develop your skills.

You will join an experienced fleet maintenance team, carrying out servicing, inspections and repairs across HGVs and trailers. Applications are welcome from experienced HGV Technicians, Commercial Vehicle Mechanics and technicians with a strong transferable mechanical background looking to develop within heavy vehicle maintenance.

The Role
Keep the fleet safe, compliant and ready for the road through planned maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs. You will work across a broad range of mechanical tasks, with occasional electrical fault-finding and internal support available to build your knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
Complete planned maintenance inspections (PMIs) and MOT preparation.
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults, identifying issues before they cause breakdowns.
Undertake basic electrical diagnostics and repairs, including lighting and wiring.
Maintain accurate job cards, service records and inspection documentation.
Work closely with the team to minimise vehicle downtime.
Follow health and safety procedures and maintain an organised workshop. What We’re Looking For

Experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician, or a strong transferable mechanical background.
Knowledge of vehicle servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs.
Experience with trailers, PMI inspections and MOT preparation would be beneficial.
Basic electrical fault-finding skills.
A practical approach, willingness to learn and pride in the quality of your work.
Ability to work independently and contribute to a workshop team.
A full UK driving licence; an HGV licence would be advantageous. Support and development are available for applicants still building their HGV experience, with salary dependent on skills and experience.
