HGV Team Leader
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £14.00 - £17.00 per hour DOE (£29,000 - £35,000 per annum)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced HGV Team Leader to join a professional removals and logistics operation in Sheffield.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in the moving industry who can lead by example, deliver exceptional customer service, and support the day-to-day running of the branch, including deputising for the Operations Manager when required.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and motivate moving teams to deliver a first-class customer experience.
Safely oversee domestic, commercial, and office relocations.
Brief and debrief crews, ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely.
Liaise directly with customers and resolve issues professionally.
Ensure compliance with company procedures, Health & Safety requirements, and transport legislation.
Support staff development through coaching and on-the-job training.
Assist with branch operations and cover management duties in the Operations Manager's absence.
Undertake Move Controller duties when required.
What We're Looking For
Previous experience within the removals/moving industry.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
Good knowledge of UK geography, Working Time Directive, and O Licence compliance.
Experience carrying out risk assessments and implementing Health & Safety procedures.
HGV Category C or C+E licence and Driver CPC preferred
Flexible approach to work, including occasional overnight stays and weekend working.
Professional attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
Hours & Benefits
£14.00 - £17.00 per hour depending on experience.
Overtime paid after 40 hours.
25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays (33 days total).
40 hours per week, typically 07:30 - 16:30 with a one-hour lunch break.
Working 5 days out of 7 on a Monday to Sunday rota.
Rotas generally issued in advance, subject to operational requirements.
Weekend working on a rotational basis.
